The weba Success Story: From Pioneer to Global Player in the Toolmaking Industry

Dietach, Austria - Since its foundation in 1982, weba Werkzeugbau GmbH has developed into a leading global player in the manufacture of hot forming tools as well as stamping and forming tools for high-strength and ultra-high-strength structural parts for automotive applications.

From the beginnings to globalization

Founded by Herbert Danzinger, Wolfgang Heidenthaler and Reinhold Weber, weba started with a modest 29 employees and already achieved a turnover of 1.2 million euros in the early years. Thanks to its flexible and rapid response to the needs of the global market, the company quickly established itself as a manufacturer of sophisticated stamping and forming tools for the automotive industry. The constant demand led to continuous growth in both the number of employees and turnover.

A milestone in the history of weba was the founding of the subsidiary SIWE a.s. (today: weba Olomouc s.r.o.) in the Czech Republic in 1990, together with the company Sigma. This location specialized in direct and indirect press hardening and still contributes significantly to weba's technological leadership today.

Strategic expansion and continuous innovation

With the construction of its own company building in 1999 and the expansion of the production area in Olomouc as well as the construction of a new plant in Dietach/Steyr in 2001, weba consistently focused on capacity expansion and modernization. Targeted product development and specialization in strategic market niches were decisive factors in the company's success.

A further step towards expanding the company's technological leadership was taken in 2010 with the expansion of the production area in Olomouc to 5,100 m² and the acquisition of a fully automated hot forming line.

Forward-looking investments

The continuous modernization of machinery and the optimization of processes enable weba to produce faster and more flexibly. This is further supported by the expansion of the production hall in Steyr by 260 m² at the end of 2012. New machines such as the eight-meter-long UNIFORCE 7 SHW three-axis machining center and the Trumpf TLC 5-axis laser contribute to increased efficiency.

Research and development as the basis for success

For weba, the combination of market leadership, innovation and increased performance is a driving force for further investment in the future. Numerous research projects in the field of hot forming and process optimization additionally support the expansion of technological leadership.
